Compac is run by Colin Harding. In the seventies and early eighties he worked for both large and small accountancy practices. The opportunity offered by the new microcomputers was instantly appreciated and seized upon. Rather than the usual approach of adapting large computer systems, Compac took the principles of the manual systems used by accountancy practices and automated them - even down to optional posting summaries for each schedule for a perfect audit trail. The result was an instant success.

The system has been continuously developed and improved ever since and is used by both large and small accountancy practices.

The AIMS Partnership of accountancy practices, Britain's largest group of independent accountants, chose Compac for all their incomplete records and accounts production requirements from their formation right up to their 200 plus membership.

Much of Grant Thornton's farming division has used Compac for over a decade for its demanding farm business management accounts.
